Mike Shwartz former owner of Sugar Grove Market and Wileys country Store back in the 70's and 80's and his kids Roz and Dave send regards, I remember Big George coming into the store and dad and George talking about who was older while drinking some polish tea, both left Detroit, George and Dad had a lot in common, Big George will be missed, but his legacy, and big smile and Huge heart will never be forgotten
We loved hearing from Mr.Ludington Speaks.
Big George.........If you knew him, you loved him. He was just that kind of guy! Always a kind word and friendly greeting. After the many years as the leader of the Clown Band, what I will remember the most is him reading the birthdays every morning on the radio....and seemingly know everyone he mentioned. "Today's the birthday of Bill and Robin Schramm, the twins of Richard and Marilyn Schramm of Schramm's Bakery in Scottville. They're probably having a do-nut for breakfast right now." He was a wonderful man, father and husband and will be missed by all who knew him......God's speed George!!
I worked with "Big George" at the Daily News while in high school co-op back in the early 80's. used to help proof read with him sometimes. What a great guy, fun working with him and all the rest. Big George, you were a blast.
