All of those seniors and oakview citizens are the ones who have been voting against anything to do with the school and education. They are the reason we havent been able to try and get a new school, but now money that could be helping students has to go towards them.
What a great day to be American! God Bless America. Thanks to all of those that took time to Vote what a great right that we as Americans are able to do!!!
Very disapointed the Jeff fiers didnt win. Jeff is a great sheriff and should have kept his job and now that Cole won he says there s no room for Jeff with the sheriff department is not right. He is a great police officer and a great sheriff. That is not right what Cole is doing to Jeff. It's wrong and with the comment about no room for Jeff shows you what kind of sheriffcole is going to be. And the only people to blame are those who voted for Cole. I'm from Detroit area and I've seen this a lot. A new guy becomes sheriff gets power and things change for the worse. Great job ludington
CONGRATS TO ALL THAT WON. I THOUGHT THE MASON COUNTY ROAD COMMISSIONER WAS A VOTED IN POSITION? I BELIEVE IT IS TIME TO REPLACE DITTMER. OUR COUNTY DIRT ROADS HAVE NOT BEEN KEPT UP AT ALL. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT THESE WORKERS HAVE BEEN DOING ALL SUMMER? IT WAS JUST LAST WEDNESDAY THAT OUR DIRT ROAD WAS GRADED - WAS NOT BRINED. BUT FINALLY(SINCE JUNE 7TH) IT WAS AT LEAST GRADED!!! AND FINALLY MOWED DOWN THE WEEDS SO WE CAN SEE THE DEER BEFORE THEY JUMP IN FRON OF OUR BIKES AND CARS. I PAY MY TAXES - ISN'T THIS WHERE THE COUNTY PAYS FOR THE ROADS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF? AM I WRONG? I VOTED IN THE HOPES THAT SOMEONE CAN LOOK INTO THIS. IF I WERE EARNING EVEN $10 AN HOUR, I WOULD DO MY JOB WELL. I WOULD NOT SIT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TALKING WITH CO WORKERS FOR HALF MY DAY. THESE GUYS I'M SURE MAKE WELL OVER $20 AN HOUR... MAYBE I WILL NOT PAY MY TAXES AND DO THE ROAD MYSELF - SEND THE ROAD COMMISSION THE BILL. THEY USE TO HAVE A WEBSITE TO REPORT ALL THE ROAD ISSUES - NOW I SEE THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE...PROBABLY TOO MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING!
Name- I have no idea what you wrote, because after reading about 2 sentences I quit. Stop typing in CAPS LOCK as it is extremely annoying.
Dittmer is, shall we say, questionable in regards to his actions. His employee monitoring is nonexistent. The county road commissioner has also allowed an out-of-county gravel company to turn a seasonal two-track beside my house into a 3 lane road!!! Is this what the company paid 3 million dollars for?? The roads are worse than ever; what happened to the money??? This is fact; the company is not local, and the proof can be found at the corner of Dewey and Taylor roads; simply drive down Dewey and follow the seasonal(?) road east. Property owners lost a LOT of land to the roads' expansion as well, and were NOT compensated. WHERE IS THE MONEY, DITTMER??
Hey Robert, You think if Fiers won that he would have kept Sgt Cole and some of the other Deputies? That is what happens when you have campaigns. You take a chance of being out of a job if you dont win. If Fiers would have won, and he let Cole go, you would be saying thats a good move by Fiers because it would created a conflict between the department since he was running against Jeff. Congrats again to Sheriff Cole....our County is going to be heading in a much better and safer place come January 1st....
Some good new candidates got voted in, some old candidates that should be re-elected didn't get in, shame. The other shame is on the ballot proposals, they both should bring new taxes to us all now, I hope everyone voting for them knew this in advance, yuuuup, more new taxes, and wasteful spending to accompany it.
I'll be waiting for commissioners Mary Nichols and Janet Andersen to give up their salaries like they promised.
Robert The Office of the Sheriff is an elected position. You need not be a certified police officer to be the sheriff. In the large cities the Sheriff is usually a politician in the true sense of the word. In the more rural areas such as we are the Sheriff most times comes up through the ranks gaining experience and the respect of their fellow officers and the community. Deputies normally are union members and are protected from losing their jobs every four years when there is a chance of having a new Sheriff. In the days before Unions the out going Sheriff and everyone working for him left the building and the new Sheriff and his crew entered and took over the duties of Sheriff. When a person decides they have more to offer than the incumbent Sheriff. They have to make the choice to run knowing full well that if they are elected they lose the security of Union protection and that just as the person they unseated was out and on his/her own at the end of their term, he or she will also be out if they are not re- elected. It is the voters that fire the Sheriff when they elect a new Sheriff not the incoming Sheriff. You like Sheriff Fiers and are disappointed that he was not re elected by the voters. I also was disappointed when Laude Hartrum was unseated by the voters electing Jeff Fiers. It was Hartrum’s decision to leave the protection of the union and he lost out. It was Fiers decision to do the same and now he is out. It was Kim Cole’s decision to leave that security and in four years the voters will again judge Cole on his performance and he to may be unemployed. That is the American way, the people decide through voting who they want in any political office. Thank you. Robert Wilson, Fountain
Good comments by both Robert's, remember, this was only a primary, not many turn out to vote it. If Fiers wanted to be a write-in or Independent candidate, he could still do so, and I prefer he does. He only lost by 6.5% of less than 6400 turn out voters. If a few thousand more show up in November, it could change everything in the Sheriff's race.
How right you are Eddie, Jeff could run a write in campaign that would be very costly and cause a lot more work for those that work in the polls. It would also give the Democrats who felt they were used by Jeff in 2008 a way to even the score. They couldn’t do that in the closed primary unless they threw away their chance to pick who will run against Franz in November. Of the two I think they dislike Franz more. Good Day! Robert Wilson, Fountain.
