It would be pretty obvious if you actually read the article before spouting off. But, I am glad that the township finally got some common sense and passed this.
What the township boards don't realize is how much they are putting their resident citizens at risk. How many of the 60 were non-residents with cottages in area or just not from your township? The state ORV law provides for governmental immunity for the county but not your township. Two ATV deaths in Manistee County this year, lawsuits to follow. Oh the state also amended the insurance laws so ORV's don't need to worry about that little detail either. Guess who the "deep pocket" is going to be. No identifable license either, good luck on enforcement. Great law!!!!!
Hooray for Hamlin Twnshp. and doing what the people want on this issue. Give it a try for a year, as stated, and if it's bad for the public, you can always repeal it. Good that the people that favor this aren't staying home and whining about a loss, they came forward and made their voice heard, and those Trustees that would have otherwise voted it down, now had to vote for it. The Ludington City Council could take a lesson from this, as well the Mason County Commissioners at times.
Yes Eddie and I'm going to make a fortune advising plaintiff attorneys on how to bankrupt your township for passage. Like I said this is a "great" law. Like Mom used to say, "be careful what you wish for".
