Alright, so we had a pretty severe drought this summer, and that alone could account for a decrease in the Lake Michigan (Great Lakes) water level. How much credence should be assigned to the rumors that "China is stealing our Great Lakes water"? If this link is even remotely correct (http://lunaticoutpost.com/Topic-CHINA-S-DRAINING-LAKE-MICHIGAN or http://www.canadians.org/campaignblog/?p=3796) what can be done about it? New legislation?

You site a link by Lunatic Outpost to defend this idea? Really? That says alot. You feel that it is more likely that China is stealing our water, than a summer drought right after one of the mildest winters ever? Almost no lake cover ice, so more evaporation. Very low snow run off. Very little rain all summer. I will go with the weather, but you can believe whatever you want. Here are some rough numbers for you though. For even numbers figure that the water dropped 2 feet, and that Lake Mich and Huron (we won't even count superior, Erie, St Clair, or anything inland for now) have an area of about 44,500 square miles. That gives abbout 2,480,675,788,800 cubic feet, or 18,556,743,563,000 gallons of water. Yeah, you are right, I am sure no one would notice that much water going to China in a year.
