That's a typical dirty Illinois politician. If The Badger was based in Chicago, This Durbin bozo would have helped out in every way possible. Durbin, If you're not going help keep your nose out of things.

He is helping to prevent continued POLLUTION by the BADGER.

It's a shame that a Senator with nothing at stake in this debate feels like he has to stick his nose in. I'll bet the city of Chicago dumps more raw sewage and waste into Lake Michigan in a year than the Badger would in 20 years of lake crossing, but you don't hear him yelling about shutting down Chicago... Also, shouldn't the good Senator be more concerned about the Asian Carp that are about to invade Lake Michigan from the Illinois River in Chicago? That invasion will have a MUCH larger affect on the lake than the Badger ever will. Not sure why Durbin got involved, but sure wish he would butt out!

Actually, the Badger doesn't even show up on the list of top Polluters in Mason County. No offense to these companies, please no hate mail. Just posting public info in defense of the Badger. Rank Facility Pounds 1. METALWORKS, 902 4TH ST., LUDINGTON 10,123 2. GREAT LAKES CASTINGS CORP., 800 N. WASHINGTON AVE., LUDINGTON 2,003 3. DOW CHEMICAL CO., 1600 S. MADISON ST., LUDINGTON 61

In a perfect world, we would have the EPA explaining without hyperbole why the SS Badger can't keep the status quo, backing it up with salient facts. In the real world, we have a lot of hypocritical environmentalist bullies that will shut down a business that it perceives is not 'green' enough. If the EPA nixes the permit, and LMC carries on, the innocuous coal ash slurry that is dumped well offshore, will be filling up a landfill somewhere. Which is better for the environment?

Dolores, I guess you're for a bigger more intrusive government in general as well right? let's bring in big brother!
